A LETTER FROM VALONNE

My mission is to empower women of color to embrace, accept and love their hair the way it is and to educate them on how to properly care for their hair, to get the positive results they want. And through the internet, I knew that I had the opportunity to reach out worldwide to others who were looking for practical steps that would really grow their hair, healthy, full and long.

Like many black women, I got fed up with my hair not growing very healthy and long. After researching about black hair composition, I started wearing my hair without any chemicals. At first it was challenging because I was still trying to style it straight and wear the very trendy hair styles. But it wasn’t until 2002 that I started to find new ways to style my natural hair without all the fuss of straightening it.

For the most part I wear my hair naturally in twists and twist-outs. This has my hair looking fuller and more vibrant. I receive a lot of compliments. I go out to places and black women will often come up to me and ask me how I do my hair. When I would occasionally straighten my hair, my friends and family would be surprised how long it grew. So after many years of black women asking me about my hair and my powerful love to help people, it just made sense that I put it all in a book and tell the world about it.

With the help of my amazing husband, Ronnie, I founded Girl, Get Your Hair Back! Our goal at Girl, Get Your Hair Back! is to offer the best products and services in the world at the best prices. We do not define our success by the amount of profit we reap, but on the number of lives that have changed because of our products and services. I am here to enlighten black women of the vast amounts of styling and growing possibilities they have with their hair. Black girl, it’s time to get your hair back!

But like many who find out, braids and weaves are not substitutions for your natural hair.  Wearing extra hair on your head for long periods of time will pull your hair out from the roots and permanently!

In addition to these new hair styles, I got tired of paying tremendous amounts of money to get my hair done, so I decided I wanted to grow my own hair. It didn’t have to be way down the middle of my back, and it didn’t have to be bone straight. All it had to be was my own, shiny, thick, curly hair. Just the way God intended it to be. After reading a few books about the composition of black hair and with a little trial and error, I found out how to get the hair I wanted. And now I am here to tell you how to achieve the very same thing.
