My mission is to empower women of color to embrace, accept and love their hair the way it is and to educate them on how to properly care for their hair, to get the positive results they want. And through the internet, I knew that I had the opportunity to reach out worldwide to others who were looking for practical steps that would really grow their hair, healthy, full and long.
Like many black women, I got fed up with my hair not growing very healthy and long. After researching about black hair composition, I started wearing my hair without any chemicals. At first it was challenging because I was still trying to style it straight and wear the very trendy hair styles. But it wasn’t until 2002 that I started to find new ways to style my natural hair without all the fuss of straightening it.
For the most part I wear my hair naturally in twists and twist-outs. This has my hair looking fuller and more vibrant. I receive a lot of compliments. I go out to places and black women will often come up to me and ask me how I do my hair. When I would occasionally straighten my hair, my friends and family would be surprised how long it grew. So after many years of black women asking me about my hair and my powerful love to help people, it just made sense that I put it all in a book and tell the world about it.
