The twist out is practically the only hair style I wear. Many ladies often ask how I do my hair, so I found a great video for you to learn how to do it. I love this style because all you have to do is just twist it, air dry it (the video says to blow dry it, but I don’t recommend it. Purchase my e-book, www.girlgetyourhairback and I will tell you why) and then twist out. This is the style that has made my hair grow tremendously. I guarantee that if you wear this style, your hair will grow. It requires the moisture you need, no heat is needed, and its 100% natural. Any hair type can do this style. And I believe the kinkier your hair, the better. I haven’t tried Miss. Jessie’s hair products yet, but when I do, I will let you know!

This is so exciting for me to share because I have looked around for months on how to do sisterlocs and boy was it hard. I couldn’t find a video! I guess no one wants to reveal how they do it. But I found a video on youtube from a wonderful lady @CoilsKinksCurls on youtube that is very helpful. Now it isn’t very clear, but if you follow the steps you will understand it. So theses sisterlocs are styled as braidlocs. They are a great alternative to the traditional palm roll. You start this process with basic box braids. Then you leave them alone and they will lock on their own. Here is part one of the video.

After the new growth comes in you retighten them by latching them. In this video CoilsKinksCurls will demonstrate how to retighten them. Now, what is so great about these braidlocs are that they will lock just like any other lock and will look like sisterlocs once they are matured. And I think this approach is much better because they don’t unravel and you can wash them as often as you need to without having to re-twist. I have a daughter and this will be awesome to do because it’s low maintenance for her very active lifestyle. And I think if you have are older and you go to the gym often, this will work for you too! Please see the video below. And if you find this helpful, you can subscribe to more videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/CoilsKinksCurls.

I was searching on the web deciding on another blog to post. I had a different idea in mind but I changed it when I came across this very cute picture of Leela James. At first I thought this was a picture of a new Barbie doll, but then I looked again and it was a perfect picture of Leela with a new hair color with honey highlights. This R&B singer is always easy to spot out. I remember when she first came out and she had this really large blow out. I thought she was just adding some attention to herself but turned out that she never considered a perm and that she really enjoys her hair the way it is. When it is not in a fro Leela says it is either styled in cornrows, braids or twist. Those are my favorite hairstyles too. Her favorite hair care product lines are Carol’s Daughter and Dr. Miracle. And when she isn’t doing her hair she is singing. Leela is set for release of her new album My Soul dropping on May 25, 2010S. To know more information about her and listen to some good tunes make sure to visit www.leelajames.com.

Valentine’s Day is right about the corner and most of you ladies are going to wear pretty dresses. So I wanted to show you a couple of hair styles that I thought may fit you for the evening.

Many people are using the Biotin dietary supplement because of its claim of making your hair grow. Before you decide to take Biotin here are the facts.

What is it?

Biotin is part of Vitamin B complex which helps in nourishing scalp, follicles and hair. Biotin supplements are often recommended as a natural product to counteract the problem of hair loss in both children and adults. This B-vitamin is found in rich foods like soy, milk, egg yolks and liver.

What are the benefits?

When normal intake of biotin is supplemented, it is suppose to help restore hair loss and keep skin and nails looking healthy. Biotin helps relieve cradle crap in newborns and is very effective at controlling blood sugar levels in diabetics.

What is the side affects?

Side effects from biotin supplements should not occur if the vitamin is taken within recommended amounts. If side effects do occur, lowering the dosage of biotin is usually sufficient to eliminate these effects.

Conclusion

If you started taking Biotin for your hair, it would take months for the effect, if any, to show up. Hair has to grow to be affected by a new addition to your diet. So it is not possible for an instant change to your hair to show up. Trace minerals and drugs can show up in hair analysis after the hair is chemically broken down and treated, but that doesn’t mean you would be able to detect a difference in your hair between the months you took the vitamin supplements and the months you didn’t. Biotin is not FDA approved so you are taking it at your own risk.
