What Causes Bad Hair Days?
Apr222009
Have you ever wondered how your hair looks bomb only for a couple of days? It moves easily and each hair stays exactly how you want it. But then the next day it doesn’t act the same? You wrapped your hair up the night before like you’re supposed to. You used the same hair products. But it isn’t as lively as it was yesterday. It’s kind of frustrating. So after paying attention to what made my hair look good one day and then messed up the other day, I figured it out!
- Over a couple of days conditioning agents (e.g. hair grease, hair oil) and styling products (e.g. gel or hair spray) build up on hair causing the hair to be heavy and lifeless.
- When the environment is either humidity, dry or change in weather, it can alter your hair. For instance, when it is very humid outside your hair can take on moisture from the air and it can replace its moisture contact to the air when dry outside. This can leave the hair really puffy.
- If you think you hated being on your menstrual cycle, so does your hair. Increased estrogen production the week before you get a period can trigger increased oil production, making hair limp and dull.
- Lastly, if you have hair that is damaged from over styling of chemicals and heat, it is susceptive to
all variations of humidity, dryness, hormonal activity and styling. Damaged hair is more porous and its cuticle is much rougher.

Hairstyles for Round Faces
Mar232009Celebrities can be trend setters when it comes to the latest hairstyles. When I see a hairstyle I like on a celebrity I admire, I look at their hairstyles closely and try to emulate it. I also keep in mind that wearing the latest hairstyles I see on celebrities may not work on my face. When trying to wear the right haircut or hairstyle it is important to know your face shape, and to choose a hairstyle that is appropriate for what you want to do in life.
For the next couple of weeks I will be talking about the best hairstyles for long, square, oval, round, and heart shaped faces. This week I will focus on round shaped faces. Round faces can style their hair in soft long layers and do best without full bangs. Round faces look better to avoid styling hair so that it is full at the sides of the face; rather keep hair sleek and smooth over that area. Curls are a great option for this face shape. Curly hair styles can be quick and easy to style. I have provided pictures below to show you what I mean.
Rihanna’s long layered, curly hair, works easily on round shaped faces.
You can also try Halle Berry’s, short curly wedge shaped hair style.
If you have long hair you can do ponies, half up do’s, twists, buns, scarves, or braids.
The options are almost endless!
